My new home and red-eye flights

It's officially been 2 weeks since I arrived at my new hometown of Eugene, Oregon.  And let me tell you what: it...feels...RIGHT!

I know it's only been 2 weeks, and I know everyone tells me wait until February when it rains everyday, but heck, I'm enjoying the everything that Eugene and Oregon has to offer right now!  The weather has been great and living in the melting pot that is Eugene has certainly provided an added stimulus to my lifestyle.

This past week, I've been able to get myself adjusted to the new daily routine (which is considerably less stressful than my previous routine in Ohio) and it is starting to show in my last few workouts.  Being that Monday's 20k race before a brief down period, I won't really be able to enjoy the benefits of my new flexible schedule until I resume training.  But if this week is any indication of what is to come, I like what is in store for me.

Currently, I am gathering my writing inspiration from gate E2 in the Portland (PDX) airport as I await my red-eye flight back to the East coast.  For those of you who are regular followers of some of my travel posts, you are already aware of my fascination with people-watching at airports.  Being that I am in Oregon the night before the much anticipated Oregon-LSU football game, there is an abundance of Duck garb being adorned by the good people of PDX.

I'll be sure to write another post prior to Monday's race, so stay tuned for my updates from the ground in Connecticut.  I'm also looking forward to seeing family who live in Hartford.  New Haven, Connecticut, US 20k Championships, and Northeast Piers...here I come!
